Who are we?
We are a family business owned and managed by brother and sister duo Richard and Kelly.
Having lived in Sudbury for the whole of our lives we are used to travelling out of town to enjoy many activities, including playing escape rooms. This then triggered a lightbulb moment…. what if we could bring an escape room to Sudbury?
So here we are!
As a family run business we have inevitably roped in many family members to help us set up our escape room centre with jobs such as hanging doors, installing TVs and cameras and painting and decorating.
As well as escape room business owners we are also enthusiasts and have played many, many games and with Kelly and Rich having played over 100 games each and Gemma nearing her 100th we are always happy to recommend games for you to try. When you come to visit us you may notice we have displayed just some of our game photos upstairs for you to look at, you may even see a room or two you have played yourselves.
Why the name EO?
Being family orientated we decided to name the company EO after Rich’s daughter Emily and Kelly’s daughter Olivia. Born only 6 months exactly apart they are already creating mischief together and we hope that they will grow up together and become great friends as well as cousins.
Since deciding on EO as our company name Rich and his wife Sara welcomed a son. Not being fond of Escape, Room or Limited for his name they settled on Joseph.
Look out Joseph, you are the little brother and cousin!
How do we come up with the ideas for our games?
Coming up with the ideas for the themes and scenarios was very difficult as we intended to build EVERYTHING from scratch and from our own ideas.
As a qualified electrician and co-director of a local technology company Impression Technology Limited, Rich was able to bring Kelly’s ideas for puzzles and her sometimes strange imagination to life whilst adding his own unique and creative touches and clever little (and sometimes not so little) additions too.
Once Kelly has finished designing and Rich has finished building we hand over to our mum, Mary, to decorate add some artistic flare!
Why we are different?
As a small business we offer a personal touch to all our customers, we always take the time to sit and chat before and after your game. We love to know what parts you enjoyed, which parts you didn’t (although we hope there aren’t any!) and which puzzles were your favourites. We love to hear what you think and we are grateful to every person who takes the time to leave us a review on Facebook and/or TripAdvisor. We really do read EVERY single one!
We also love a special occasion so if you are coming for a birthday, anniversary, stag or hen do or any other celebration we would love to hear from you!
We also know that our games are absolutely jam packed with puzzles, we had too many ideas for a 1 hour game so we came up with a solution….. the EO BONUS TOKEN. This has been very popular and we are yet to see this idea anywhere else.
The idea behind the bonus token is to give players additional game time. The bonus puzzle DOES NOT have to be solved to complete the game however if you do solve the bonus puzzle and show the token to the camera you will be rewarded with additional time FREE OF CHARGE which could be the difference between completing the game or running out of time or even making it on to our leaderboard!
Babergh Innovation Awards 2020
We were delighted to be nominated for an Innovation Award at the Babergh Innovation Awards 2020. We had only been open for 9 weeks by the time the awards came round and we were shortlisted in the Microbusiness Category.
Even though we didn’t win this time round it is a great achievement to make the final three and we are grateful to all those who took the time to nominate us.
In June 2022 we received a Travelers Choice Award from TripAdvisor based on our reviews and ratings that our customers have left us. Reviews really are important to a small family business so thank you to each and every person who has taken the time to leave us a review.
